Who should be responsible for the conservation of Phewa Lake is a big question of this time. Is it Pokhara Sub-metropolitan City Office or District Development Committee?
Both institutions don’t cover the whole area. Pokhara Sub-metropolitan City Office covers only the city area and District Development Covers only the Village areas in the water shed area of Phewa Lake. Or May be we should form an Autonomous body, including all government sectors, private sectors, non-governmental organization and public.

In my openion, what is see is that the ownership of Phewa lake has to be given to local initiatives of Pokhara. because only local person know well about Phewa Lake though donar agency like JICA will be helping for the maintaince and local management committee must be formed so that, Phewa Lake will be conserved properly.

I think a lot of people who live in Baidam and other parts arround the lake knows quite well how te deal with the natural behouver of the lake. The only thing they need is suport from the local gvt. Such a beautifull place on earth must be saved for sure. Tourists have to know that all the things they want in the hotels and restaurants have to do something with the lake . . . . . .

Conservation of Phewa Lake not possible unless local people are aware of its importance. They should be made aware of simple things like washing clothes and bathing in the lake, making the drainage system link to the lake might deteriorate the beauty of the lake and subsequently it’s consequences. Programmes should be directed in minimizing such little things first and strict rules should be brought into practice. The local government should take this as their major responsibility and should not always expect from INGOs and NOGs.
